Lord Ashburton where of George Forrest is Master, at the Port of Liverpool and bound for New Orleans. Transcribers notes. An asterisk indicates an error on the part of the original recorder not the transcriber. *G???ge ???????, I can only see the bottom portion on this surname, this space is usually where the Captains name is written. *???? ???? ????????? totally unreadable, this space is usually reserved for the name of the ship. *???? ?????????, unreadable, this space is usually reserved for the name of the ship. *?????pool, unreadable, this space is usually reserved for the name of the point of embarkation. *????? from the closing remarks on this document I believe this to be seven. *?????????* 18??*, unreadable, this space is usually reserved for the date of arrival, The date was February 7, 1849. *?????* Lord Ashburton, unreadable, this space is usually reserved for the name of the ship. *?????? ???????* , this space is usually where the Captains name is written. *Under the column, Profession, Occupation or Calling of Passengers, Labourers is written only across from the first name and "ditto" marks are used for all other passengers. *Under the column, Port at which Passengers have contracted to be landed, New Orleans is written only across from the first name and "ditto" marks are used for all other passengers. *On this document, what appears to be families traveling together the scribe has only written the surname of the first family member, so if the first is unreadable the "ditto's" after the other family members are no help. *Passenger #1 ?anet Whelan, letter is unreadable but could be a "G", looks similar to name of another passenger. *Passenger #8 Pat ?unnan, unreadable, through process of elimination most likely a "G". *Passenger #10 Martin ?ally, unreadable, through process of elimination most likely a "S". *Passenger #20 Michael ???on, unreadable, but through process of elimination most likely a "S" for the first letter, second letter could be an "I", and third probably a "D". *Passenger #21 Patrick ???on, same last name as passenger #20, but not written out. *Passenger #47 Mary Moore, in the age column it is written "2 Died", I believe the 2 is meant to be Mary's age, and the "Died" is meant to be part of the "brought forward" total being written. *Brought forward, numbers of, Males, Females, Male children under 14 years, Female children under 14 years, Infants, 25,8,3,6 & 5 Inft, 2 written above the line followed by Died, total is correct. *Passenger #52 E??in Pugh, hard to read, could be "Evein". *Passenger #56 John Fra???s, very light photocopy, "Fra???"s, could be "Francis" in my opinion. *Passenger #57 ????? ?radley*, First letter is unreadable, but the last three letters looks like "mes" or "nes" for the given name. Surname, the first letter is unreadable. *Passenger #58 Same last name as passenger 57 *Passenger #62 John ?ant*, ? could be "F, T" or "Y". *Passenger #64 Martin Nea?ny*, this letter could be a "s". *Brought forward, numbers of, Males, Females, Male children under 14 years, Female children under 14 years, Infants, 46,20,7,12 & 7 Inft, total is correct. *Passenger #123 Michael ??e?ly*, photocopy is very light, making this name unreadable. *Passenger #124 Eliza*, same name as passenger 123, but surname was not written out on the document. *At this point handwriting has changed to a different writer. *Passenger #126 Bart Clo????on*, unreadable, but the fourth letter could be a letter with a tail, such as a "g" or :y". *Passenger #127 Given name is unreadable, but a short name maybe abbreviated, first letter could be a P, but only 2 or 3 letters. Surname is also hard to read, Cau??an, first ? is a letter with the tail below the line and second ? appears to be above the line like a "l" or "t". third ?, could be either "a" or "o". *Passenger #131 Mary Farrell*, this entry has a line drawn through it, no notation why. *Passenger #134 F???*, the first letter appears to be a "F", second letter appears to be an "o", third either an a or u with the last stroke of the letter going up and the curling back on itself, forming a "s" above the line, as if this is an abbreviation for a name, since the handwriting changed to a different person at passenger 125 there is not many names to compare this writing to. *Passenger #138 Edward Hos?* this last letter of the surname is written very small compared to the other letters, might be an "e, s" or "i". *Passenger #139 Mary Hos?, Same surname as passenger 138, but not written out. *Brought forward, numbers of, Males, Females, Male children under 14 years, Female children under 14 years, Infants, 59, 28, 12, 15 & 8 Inft, totaling 122, but passenger list shows 139, (with the 7 that is listed as died on this voyage, brings total to 129, and the correction in the addition, would make the total correct). *Passengers #148-149 H??? Both these passengers have the same last name but only 148 is written out, The first letter of the surname is clearly written as a H, although different from the H in passenger 139's name The next letters could possible be "inn" *Under the columns, Names, Age, Sex and Occupation (nothing written) *Under the column, Country To which they belong, it is hand written, "The whole of the passengers belong to Great Britan and Ireland" *Under the column, Country Of which they intend to becoming Inhabitants, it is handwriten, "All of them intend becoming inhabitants of the United States" *Under the column, Number That have died on the Passage, "seven have died in the passage one death ???????? in ????"*, this sentence is very close to the fold of the paper and unreadable. Last word could possibly be "port" *No indication as to the names of the seven passengers who died.
