I, Gaston Delaplane Master of the S.S.
Labrador do solemnly, sincerely, and
truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me,
and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the
Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the
passengers taken on board of the said S.S.
Labrador at Havre from which port
said S.S. Labrador has now arrived;
and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex and the
destination of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel
occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs,
and also the country of which it is intended by each to becom an
inhabitant and that said Lit or Manifest truly sets for the number
of said passengers who have died on said voyage and the names and
ages of those who died. So help me God.(Signed) G.Delaplane

Transcriber's Notes: The lister had placed the word "Baggage" in column
"Died on the Voyage", so we can assume there were no deaths. The numbering
of passengers was done by transcriber and was not on original manifest.
A "?" indicates a word or letters that could not be read, due to quality
of original document. The lister scrawled something next to each entry
that read "Germany" as place of origin-- one such entry clearly read
"Bavaria". On #133 where country of origin is "Bavaria", lister scrawled
"Ger".
#11-Occupation: presume this to mean "United States Navy".
#13-Manifest had been torn here and in taping it back together, the
passenger's information was lost. Surname may possibly begin with an"S".
#30&31-Occupation: presume this to be abbreviation for "lithographer".
#32-Occupation: probably "manufacturer".
#40-Occupation: probably "dyer".
#43&44-Surname could also be: Korles or possibly Corles.
#91-Occupation: assume this to be "mechanic".
#101-Occupation: probably "clockmaker".
#102-First name: probably abbreviation for "Rudolph".
#122-Umlaut over "o" in surname.
#131-Name could possibly be "Gumand".
#160,161 & 162-Occupation: either "sailor" or "tailor"; copy not clear.
#161-First name could be "Achelle" or "Uchelle".
#181-First name is probably Her. (Abbreviation for Herman??)
#189-First name may be abbreviation for Jean Baptiste? Surname could also
be Cesfuini.
#197-Other possible spellings: Mimbuz, Mimbrez, Mambuz.
#239&240-Occupation: probably "manufacturer".
Recapitulation of Passengers: After careful counting and recounting and
also totaling the lister's handwritten figures at the bottom of each
page, it appears his totals are in error - the ship only carried 255
passengers.
Correspondence: 1/00 Passenger #111 Born
Anna Born (her parents were William Born and Adeline Hani),
ended up in Pittsburgh PA where she married my great-great-grandpa, George
Edward Mertz. She was born in 1860. I have more information if anyone is
