Brig Gazelle
I, Bunge do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the following List or Passengers subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of Customs for the District of New York, contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Bremen Brig Gazelle whereof I am Master, from Bremen.
Sworn to this 1 May 1849, So help me God M. Bunje * Before me, ?? (name of Collector indecipherable)
List of Manifest of all the Passengers taken on board the Bremen Brig Gazelle whereof Bunge is Master, from Bremen, burden, ? tons.
Columns represent: names, ages, and sex. All passengers were listed as belonging to Germany and intending to become inhabitants of the United States, so those columns have been omitted in this list. There were no births or deaths on this voyage; those columns have also been omitted in this list. The column for occupations had no entries except in two places (lines 1-2 and lines 38-40) the words Farmers & Spinsters were written! Consequently, the occupation column has also been omitted. Passenger numbers have been added by the transcriber.

Transcriber's notes:
* The use of an asterisk indicates an error or omission on the original list.
* The use of a "?" indicates letters that are indecipherable.
* The scribe for this list seems not to have been German. He consistently
misspells common German names such as Freidrick (Friedrich),
Elizabeth (Elisabeth), Frohlick (Fröhlich), and uses no umlauts. In fact,
the captain's name is spelled Bunge, except where he himself has
signed his name as M. Bunje. Some names seem to have been spelled
phonetically.
Passengers:
# 1 Surname could be Sung
# 2 Surname could be Bemsch
#13 Surname could be Makweks
#16 Surname could be Hossmen
#17 Surname could be Prossning
#28 Surname could be Fiezenger
#44 Either the gender is incorrect for this passenger, or the name
should have been Christine or Christiane or something to that effect
#52 Surname could be Wilhaus
#63 Surname could be Ress
#69 First letter of surname may be "H" but name is difficult to decipher;
almost looks like Hediun or Thediun
