THE STATE STEAMSHIP COMPANY, LIMITED.
Glasgow, Scotland and Larne, N. Ireland* to New York
January 7, 1882

DISTRICT OF NEW YORK - PORT OF NEW YORK
I, D. H. Johnston, master of the State of Florida do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the District New York is a full and perfect List of all the Passengers on board of the said State of Florida at Glasgow and Larne from which port said State of Florida has now arrived; and that on said list is the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died. List or Manifest of all the Passengers taken on board the State of Florida whereof D. H. Johnston, is master, from Glasgow and Larne burthen 2034 tons.
Columns represent: name, age, sex, occupation, country to which they belong, country which they intend to inhabit, Died on voyage, Part of vessel occupied by each passenger during this voyage. No passenger died on the voyage so this column was deleted.

* An asterick denotes an error or omission on the part of the original recorder 
  not the transcriber. 
* Question marks indicate indecipherable letters.
* Larne, Northern Ireland is northeast of Belfast on the coast.
* Sworn statement: The name of the person who received the manifest is indeciperable. 
* The first letter is an R. The person who recorded the names of the passengers wrote  
  the English, Irish, and Scottish names very clearly. The non English names however 
  were not always clear in their spelling.  
* The recorder was spelling what he heard.
*  9,  My guess is this is an abbreviation for Andrew.
* 11, I suppose this is an abbreviation for David.
* 21, Andrew
* 26, This child is 4 months old.
* 32, This given name may be Amalie.
* 42, This name could be Chuist.
* 44, This name may be Lieudwatl.
* 49, This name may be Jurga , Jurgu.
* 52, This name may be Fachyu, Fachya, Fachgu, or Fachga. 
* 60, This name may be Metzuer.
* 62, Carder, A person who combs cotton, fax, or wool to prepare it for spinning.
* 70, This child was probably accompanied on the voyage by a relative with another name.
