LIST OR MANIFEST OF ALIEN IMMIGRANTS FOR THE COMMISSIONER OF IMMIGRATION.
Required by the regulations of the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States, under Act of Congress, approved March 3, 1893, to be delivered to the Commissioner of Immigration by the Commanding Officer of any vessel having such passengers on board upon arrival at a port in the United States.
Steamship China, sailing from Hong Kong August 9th and Yokohama, August 19th, 1893 arriving at Port of San Francisco, Aug 31, 1893.
Columns represent: Number, Name, Age, Sex, Married or Single, Occupation, Nationality, Last Residence, Final Destination in the US, Whether having a ticket to final destination, Whether in Possession of Money-if less than $30, how much?, Whether ever before in the US, Whether going to join Relative or Friend

Transcriber's Notes
This manifest appears on the film in two different places.  The first two pages, from 
 Yokohama, appear out of order of arrival date (right after the end of June and before the 
 begining of August) and the third page, from Hong Kong, appears between August 29 and 
 September 28. 
There is no captain's statement nor captain's name attached to this manifest.
The following columns had identical entries for all passengers and so were not included in 
 the table:
 Able to Read & Write=yes exceptions 20, 31 & 44
 Seaport for Landing in the US=San Francisco
 By whom was passage paid?=himself
 Whether ever in Prison, Almshouse or supported by Charity=no
 Whether a Polygamist=no
 Whether under contract to labor in the US=no
 Condition of Health Mental and Physical=good
 Whether having any deformities=no 
Letters that are illegible or difficult to interpret are replaced by ?.
There are a no entries in most columns for members of families other than the head.

2 was in San Francisco in May 1893.
12 was in San Francisco in 1891.
18 was going to join uncle M Kaufamnn, New York City.
19 was going to join uncle John McGivin, New York City.  The two surnames are spelled 
   differently.
20 was going to join husband Mr C. Lannster.
21-25 married or single entries are children of Mrs C. Lannster.
26 was going to join Sister Lithercha Reuvin, New York.
27-29 married or single entries are "wife, son & daughter of Levitt Reuvin."
31 First name is Essies or Esfies.  This is the only instance of double "s" on the manifest 
   so it is not possible to determine if this is the old style where the second "s" looks 
   like and "f."   Her occupation is "wife of Isaac Rosenthal."
37 was in Los Angeles in spring 1892.
40 & 41 occupations are wife and daughter of Israel Weinberg.
44 was going to join brother Mr Yamanake 1108 Minna St. San Francisco.
45 was going to join brother H Sawada, 406 O'Farrell St. San Francisco.
46 was in New York Oct '92 and is going to join Brother,Argus Johnson, California.
