The following columns had identical entries for all passengers and so were not included in the
table:

Letters that are illegible or difficult to interpret are replaced by ?.
The numbers indicated by * in the Whether in Possession of Money column are written with the
final two zeros elevated above the line with a line drawn under them, as one would do to
indicate cents.
The first sheet of the manifest says "sailing from Auckland" in the blank provided. The second
and third sheets say "sailing from Sydney" in this blank. However, the second sheet says
"Melbourne" in the top left corner in addition.
1, 2 Battle Craigs is clearly written. Battle Creek is probably meant. Michigan is abbreviated
here to save space.
3 is going to join Sister, Mary Ann Phelan.
5 Surname has no "r", although he is recorded as going to join "Brother S Frevendale 536 Sac."
6 is going to join Brother, Richard Herring 450/52 Stevenson St SF.
9 has been to "San Fco" before.
13 British Vice Consul purchased this passenger's ticket and he is consigned to the British Vice
Consul.
17 has been to Troy, NY and is going to join brother Thos Crowe 506 Hayes St, ??diero (possibly
Pidiero) Road SF. There are no thoroughfares called "road" in San Francisco now.
19, 20, 21 Colorado is abbreviated here to save space. They are going to join uncle Thos Wagner
c/o Sabomant 210 1? (10 or 16) St. Denver.
22 First letter of surname is "R" or"B." He has been to Connecticut in Dec/92.
23 has been to Pittsburg April 1893.
24 & 25 were in Boston 1891.
27 is going to join "wife and 2 Chn."
28 The final th in his occupation are a superscript.
29 has been to Texas 1891. His money is shared with his wife, as shown by a bracket.
31 has been to "San Franco" 1892.
34 Fanny seems to have been written in by someone else in front of "Daughter." The money entered
