I, John Miller, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, of Passengers, subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of Customs for the District of New York, contains to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Bark Abby Land whereof I am Master, from Liverpool. Correspondence 04/27/01 passengers #41 & 42 Braithwaite Two of my relative were on this ship No 41 William Braithwaite and No 42 Hodgson Braithwaite. We are in possession of letters Hodgson wrote to his family before and after he sailed. Both were unmarried and were going to America to make their fortune. They both travelled about a lot. Hodgson returned home to Leeds after 3 years. William married and stayed longer. Cath Speight
