Correspondence 05/11/01 passenger Weber
My ancester Michael Weber came to Philadelphia in 1741 on the ship Lydia. In 1764 Michael and his wife Anna Barbara presented a communion service to the Evangelical Lutheran church in Heidelberg Lancaster County PA. They had 9 children. Most of the family is buried in Woodward PA. Michael and two sons were revolutionary soldiers and wintered at Valley Forge. Sam Weaver Correspondence 10/07/01 passengers #57, 58 ECKER/EIKER I have located Peter (40), Christian (19) and Peter Eiker, Jr. (17 or 18) on the ship Lydia, James Allen, Master. Peter Eiker Jr. took up residence in Catawba County, North Carolina and his last will and testament is recorded in Lincoln County, NC. Peter Eiker's grandson was Abel Ikard, Sr. who also resided in Catawba County, NC and was an elder in the Newton Church. Either Abel or his father changed the spelling of the name from Eiker to Ikard. Abel Sr.'s son Abel Jr. married a Molly (Polly?) Anthony. They had one son, Anthony Ikard. Abel Ikard Jr. was killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill on June 17, 1775. Anthony Ikard married Elizabeth Harrison and they had six children (John Wesley (Alabama), Elijah Harrison - a captian in the Civil War (see Tennessee volunteers records), Seyburn Ikard (Archer County Texas), Anthony, Milton (my grandfather's great, great grandfather), and Mary Anthony who married Harrison Johnson (or Johnson Harrison). Milton Ikard married Isabelle Tubb (great-grand-daughter of William Floyd, signer of the declaration of Independence) on March 17, 1837. Both Milton and Isabelle were born in Franklin County, Tennessee in 1812. Isabelle died in 1881 and Milton died in 1882. They had five sons, Lafayette Eugene (my grandfather's great grandfather, born in 1838 in Farmersville, Alabama), Robert Emett Ikard (born in 1840 who died in the Civil War in March of 1863 - we have copies of his Civil War letters to his ma, pa and brothers and the letter from those with him at his death), Elisha Floyd born in 1846 who was a captian in the Texax Rangers, William Susan Ikard born in 1847 (credited with bringing hereford cattle to Texas), and Milton Ikard, Jr. born in 1850 in Union Parish, LA. Lafayette Ikard had a son, Robert E. Ikard (Bob) and Bob Ikard's son was Robert Burton Ikard (Burton). Burton Ikard was my grandfather. He had three sons (Tommy, Robert and Charles - all still living) and a daughter (Karen - my mom). He married Agnus Erma O'neal (Erma - she has passed away). My grandfather, Burton has all of this documented in a bound book and I am following up on his research. Jeff Ferguson Correspondence 10/06/2003 passenger #23 Knees/Keener I located my ancestor, Abraham Keener (also spelled "Kuehner", "Knies", "Knur", "Knees", "Kenor", and "Kühner") among the passengers onboard Ship Lydia who arrived in Philadelphia on September 29, 1741. He was aged 24 years when he left his birthplace in the German Palatinate and arrived in America. He and his wife Julianna settled in York County, Pennsylvania by 1755 and in 1767 Abraham Keener was naturalized in Rowan County, North Carolina. When the Revolutionary War began, he kept to his vows to the English King and became a loyal Tory. According to "The Loyalists in North Carolina During the Revolution" (1979) by Robert O. DeMond, Abraham Keener captured his personal friend, a Whig Captain named Kimik, and "made him a prisoner and graciously spared his life." He lived to the last of his days in North Carolina, dying in 1795. From his marriage to Julianna Abraham Keener had seven children: Hannah Keener; William Keener, John E. Keener, Jacob Keener, Maria Keener, Anna Eva Keener, Martin Keener, and Abraham Keener, Jr. Jessica Bonner
