Bark Progress
I, O. C. Olsen, Master of the Norwegian Bark Progress, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect List of all the Passengers taken on board the said Bark at Bremen from which Port the said Bark has now arrived; and that on said List is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said Passengers who have died on said Voyage and the names and ages of those who died.

Transcriber's Notes:
A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that can not be transcribed
with certainty.
A caret (^) indicates that the following letter in a word or name is superscripted.
An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of the
manifest or something in the Transcriber's Notes to which the reader should refer.
There are several problems which make this manifest difficult to decipher and cause the
transcription to be suspect: The primary reason is that the writing on the manifest is faded
and many of the written letters are not visible or only partially visible. Second, the recorder's
handwriting is sometimes difficult to decipher, especially the capital letters. Third,
the recorder's spelling of some of the passengers' names and the names of the native countries and
destinations is highly suspect. For these reasons, the transciption should be viewed with skepticism.
"Male" and "Female" in the Sex column are shortened to "M" and "F" for formatting reasons.
14-16 Destination is recorded as "Cicargo", perhaps intending "Chicago".
17 Occupation is possibly "Mason".
18 Destination is recorded as "Cicargo", perhaps intending "Chicago".
41 Surname is possibly "Hiller" or "Muller".
57 Surname is possibly "Gudler" or "Geidler".
61 Destination appears to be written as "Magachusset", perhaps intending "Massachusetts".
67 Destination is recorded as "Cicargo", perhaps intending "Chicago".
87-89 Surname is either "Halder" or "Walder".
116-118 Destination is recorded as "Cicargo", perhaps intending "Chicago".
132+137 Family surname is recorded both as "Hombal" and as "Homball".
