Figaro
I, G. Ahrens do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest of Passengers, subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs for the District of New York, contains to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Figaro whereof I am Master, from Bremen.
Sworn to the 28 May 1853 So help me God. G. Ahrens
before me (signature of port authority unclear)
List, or Manifest of all the Passengers taken on board the Figaro whereof J Beckmann is Master, from Bremen burthen 246 tons.
Columns represent passenger name, age (year/monnth), gender/family relationship, origin (place), origin (region), destination, occupation. Cannot determine what the the fourth and fifth columns represent because the heading in the original are overwirtten; however, it looks like column four is "country of birth" and column five is "last legal residence."The final column listing the number of pieces of baggage has been omitted in this listing.
