I, N. C. Harris, Master of the S.S. Minnesota, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect List of all the Passengers taken on board the said Ship at Liverpool from which Port the said Ship has now arrived; and that on said List is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said Passengers who have died on said Voyage and the names and ages of those who died.

A caret (^) indicates that the following letter in a word or name is superscripted. The entry "United States" in the native country and destination country columns is shortened to "U. States" for formatting reasons. "Male" and "Female" in the Sex column are shortened to "M" and "F" for the same reason. The recorder of the manifest often abbreviates given names by writing the first few letters of the name, then skipping letters and then writing the final letter as superscripted. In these cases, the transcriber uses the symbol (^) to indicate that the following letter is superscripted, i.e., Tho^s for Thomas, Sam^l for Samuel, Mg^t for Margaret, Ja^s for James, E^d for Edward, W^m for William, etc. Othertimes, the recorder abbreviates names by writing the first few letters, skipping letters and then adding the final letter of the name, i.e., Patk for Patrick, Margt or Mgt for Margaret, Thos for Thomas, My for Mary, Hy for Henry, etc.. An "a" entered in place of a Passenger's Age means he or she is an adult who either didn't know or didn't wish to disclose his/her Age. 347 Surname is recorded as "Noun", but might possibly be "Noon". 357-361 Surname is either "Retson" or "Ritson". 368 Surname is recorded as "Henesy", but might possibly be "Hennessy". 369 Surname is recorded as "Monahan", but might possibly be "Monaghan". 370 Surname is recorded as "Jenning", but might possibly be "Jennings". 371 Surname is recorded as "Holand", but might possibly be "Holland". 397 Surname is recorded as "Killey", but might possibly be "Kelly" or "Kelley". 406 Surname is written as "Congerty", but might possibly be "Connarty" or "Connaghty" 436 Surname is recorded as "McManimon", but might possibly be "McManamon". 440 Surname is recorded as "McManimon", but might possibly be "McManamon". 506-510 Surname is recorded as "Morane", but might possibly be "Moran". 511-519 First part of surname is obscured by damage to the manifest. 549 Surname is recorded as "Marrrow", but might possibly be "Morrow". 576 Name is recorded as "Stavert Michael", but might possibly be "Michael Stavert". 577 Surname is possibly "Gillian", "Gillen", "Gillem", "Gillan" or "Gilleen". 590-592 Surname is either "McNeill" or "O'Neill". 595-596 Surname is recorded as "Flanigan', but might possibly be "Flannigan" or "Flanagan". 638 Surname is recorded as "Corkeny", but might possibly be "Corkery".
