I, George Lockhead, Master of the Br. Str. Kangaroo, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect List of all the Passengers taken on board the said Steamer at L'pool from which Port the said Steamer has now arrived; and that on said List is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said Passengers who have died on said Voyage and the names and ages of those who died.

superscripted. In these cases, the transcriber uses the symbol (^) to indicate that
the following letter is superscripted, i.e., M^l for Michael, Tho^s for Thomas,
Sam^l for Samuel, Cath^ne for Catherine, Mg^t for margaret, W^m for William, etc.
Othertimes, the recorder abbreviates names by writing the first few letters,
skipping letters and then adding the final letter of the name, i.e., My for Mary,
Hona for Honora, Patk for Patrick, Jno for John, Margt or Mgt for Margaret, Thos
for Thomas, etc.
The entry "United States" in the native country and destination country columns
is shortened to "U. States" for formatting reasons.
The designation "Br Str. Kangaroo" in the Captain's sworn statement at the
beginning of the manifest likely implies that the Steamer Kangaroo is of
British ownership or registry.
The Captains surname is recorded as both "Lockhead" and as "Lochead" at the top of
the manifest, but both of his signatures, one at the top of the manifest and the
other at the bottom of the passenger list, are clearly written as "Lochead".
332 Surname is recorded as "Clearon", but might possibly be "Clerian".
336 Surname is recorded as "Huron", but might possibly be "Heron" or "Heran".
340 Surname is recorded as "Moloany", but might possibly be "Molony" or "Moloney".
341 Surname is recorded as "Rail", but might possibly be "Ryle" or "Rahill".
343 Surname appears to be written as "Sogan", but might possibly be "Logan".
374 Surname is recorded as "Hefferman", but might possibly be "Heffernan".
397 Surname is possibly "Donlan", "Dongan", "Donnan" or "Dontan".
416-423 Surname is possibly "Manamy".
434 Surname is recorded as "Donelan", but might possibly be "Donnellan".

605-606 Surname appears to be recorded as "Donergan", but might possibly be "Donegan".
642 Surname is recorded as "Moinihan", but might possibly be "Moynihan".
651 Surname is recorded as "Mulaly", but might possibly be "Mulally".
