Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined due to the condition of the manifest or handwriting of the original recorder. ^ Indicates letters are omitted and the following letter is superscripted. The spelling by the writer of this list is deplorable--particularly for the place names both German and American, but also (it seems) the cities. [see Cicago-Chicago; Ceveland-Cleveland, Frieport-Freeport; Fortwine-Fort Wayne, Elenois-Illinois etc.] 1 Name unclear; may be something like E. Hoffmann. 4 Muller (Müller) has an umlauted u. 10 Surname looks like it may be Rossbach 11 Name may be Carl Dietz or Vietz. 50-51 Konigheim (Königheim) seems to have an umlauted o. 79 Bodeker (Bödeker) has an umlauted o. 83 Gender must be incorrect for this entry. 84 Age may be 33. 85 Grafener (Gräfener) has an umlauted a. 97 Muller (Müller) has an umlauted u. Given name seems to be Ernst. 98-99 Sporl (Spörl) has an umlauted o. 101 Last letter of surname unclear: name may be Karon or Karou. 115 Surname looks something like Ruchner. 118 Lober may have an umlauted o making it Löber. 119-126 Entry for no. 119 is barely legible. The name may be something like Johann Stauch. And, becauee the succeeding surnames are indicated by ditto marks to no. 119, those names cannot be deciphered. It may be that there is a name missing between no. 119 and 120 which would make the origin and destination for all these names incorrect. 128 Gender designation likely incorrect for this entry. 135 Place of origin may be Lauensteinbut the first letter in the entry is unclear 138-139 Bruning (Brüning) has an umlauted u. 145 Dorsch (Dörsch) has an umlauted o. 158 Luken (Lüken) has an umlauted u. 162 Schluter (Schlüter) has an umlauted u. 163-164 Surname looks something like Winkelsetz. 163 Muller (Müller) has an umlauted u. 169 Surname may be Sammelsmann. 185-187 Surname most likely should be van Emden. 175 Given name looks something like Carsten in which case the gender is probably incorrect. 181 Note in far right column indicates she died enroute on the 13th of June 211 A ditto (do) mark in the far right column may indicate that this person died enroute. 217 Muller (Müller) has an umlauted u. 228-233 Origin probably Rhaudermoor and destination Freeport Illinois. The names should probably be: Weert Freese, Haukelina Heeren, Lina Freese, Friedrich Freese, Carl Freese, and Joseph Freese. 230 Age may be 13. 240 Kruger (Krüger) has an umlauted u. 243 Hubner (Hübner) has an umlauted u. 249 Last letters of surname are scrunched togehter. I believe the name may be Brumer. 250 Vohring (Vöhring) has an umlauted o. 251 Surname should probably be Aeilts (according to Loga Ortssippenbuch entry #28) 252-257 Bluthner (Blüthner) has an umlauted u. 253-256 Children's names are "dittoed" to entry passenger no. 252; however, in the Loga Ortssippenbuch no. 28 their surname is Aeilts--hence, Dinette Aeilts, Folkert Aeilts, Caroline Aeilts, and Sophie Aeilts. 260 Ruder (Rüder) has an umlauted u. 263-265 Most likely destination should read Cleveland. 286 Kruger (Krüger) has an umlauted u. 289 Gruber (Grüber) has an umlauted u. 291 Rover (Röver) has an umlauted o. 300 Schafer (Schäfer) has an umlauted a. 306-307 Doscher (Döscher) has an umlauted o. 310 Surname may be Luhn.
