A caret (^) indicates that the following letter in a word or name is superscripted. An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of the manifest or something in the Transcriber's Notes to which the reader should refer. The transcriber numbers the passengers consecutively, even though they are not numbered in the original manifest. 3 Surname is recorded as "How", but might possibly be "Howe". 6 Passenger is listed as "Jas Fowler", but is more likely "Mrs. Jas Fowler". 58 Surname is possibly "Morhill", "Thorhill" or "Thornhill".
