I, John Douglass, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest of Passengers, subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs for the District of New York, contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Brittish Barque Clarence, whereof I am Master, from Galway, Ireland. so help me God Sworn to this 21st of April 1848 s/ John Douglas Before me s? ? * The use of an * indicates an error or omission on the orignal manifest.
? Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined due to the condition of the
  manifest or handwriting of the original recorder.
 
* All passengers belong to the country of Ireland, all intend to become inhabitants
  of the United States, and none died on the voyage; therefore, these columns have
  been deleted.
* Passengers were numbered by the transcribers for ease of referencing.
* The gender of the passengers is typed just as written on the manifest with full
  words and some only m and f with no dittos.
* First page of manifest has a fold vertically that hides some of the letters of the
  names.
