A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that can not be transcribed
definitely.
An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of the
manifest or something in the Transcriber's Notes to which the reader should refer.
A caret (^) indicates that the following letter in a word or name is superscripted.
The transcriber numbers the passengers consecutively, even though they are not
numbered in the original manifest.
The recorder of the manifest often abbreviates given names by writing the first few
letters of the name, then skipping letters and then writing the final letter as
superscripted. In these cases, the transcriber uses the symbol (^) to indicate that
the following letter is superscripted, i.e., M^l for Michael, Tho^s for Thomas,
Sam^l for Samuel, W^m for William, etc. Othertimes, the recorder abbreviates names
by writing the first few letters, skipping letters and then adding the final letter
of the name, i.e., Patk for Patrick, Fras for Francis, Margt for Margaret, Thos for
Thomas, Chas for Charles, etc..
The recorder of the manifest appears to have listed many children's Ages incorrectly
as months instead of years.
The recorder of the manifest neglected to record the Occupation of passengers
subsequent to passenger number 60.
11 Surname is recorded as "Maylan", but might possibly be "Moylan".
22 Surname is recorded as "Colnan", but might possibly be "Colman".
67 Surname is either "Teutsch" or "Tentsch".
69 Surname is either "Kleusch" or "Klensch".
75 Surname is possibly "Aplanalp", "Aphanalp" or "Aptanalp".
76 Surname appears to be either "Bangger" or "Brugger".
148-149 Surname appears to be written as "Munns", but might possibly be "Mannns".
151-154 Surname appears to be written as "Munns", but might possibly be "Mannns".
208 Surname is possibly "Immler" or "Sumler".
255 Surname is possibly "Gastiser" or "Gaetiser".
320-325 Surname appears to be written as "Pfuffer", but might possibly be "Pfeiffer".
355-361 Surname appears to be either "Schibi" or "Schebi".
