I, C.Meyer, Master of the Prussian Steamship Bremen do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said Steamship at Bremen from which port said Steamship has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died.

? Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined due to the condition of the
manifest or handwriting of the original recorder.
^ Indicates letters are omitted and the following letter is superscripted.
* In addition to faded ink on this list the handwriting is very difficult to decipher, and
the writer uses abbreviations like merchd (merchant), or for names like Kath (Katherine)
without a period to indicate an abbreviation. He also seems to have little knowledge of
Germanic town names; hence, the places of origin are often indecipherable.
* Because there are a number of English and French passengers on this list the ship must
have stopped in Liverpool and/or Le Havre though there is nothing in the list indicating
that.
* The list has been renumbered for the website.
* The NARA microfilm seems to have a page out of order (concerning passengers on this list
numbered 682-704).
373-374 Surname seems to be something like Schmeh, Schmet, or Sehme??
388 Surname may be Klampe.
420-422 Kurles (Kürles) has an umlauted u. The surname may be Kurbs (Kürbs). Either the
name for #422 is incorrect or the gender.
426-428 Kurles (Kürles) has an umlauted u. The surname may be Kurbs (Kürbs).
466-474 Surname may be Schulz (Schülz). In either case the u is umlauted.
489 Given name has an umlauted u. May also be Lutze.
528 Surname may be Cober.
533-544 Damage to original list has obliterated most of the information for these entries.
I believe they are all from Böhmen (Bohemia) because their origin is indicated by
ditto marks to entry number 543 and because of the names that are clearly Bohemian.
548 Tuhren (Tühren) has an umlauted u.
562 Hainemuller (Hainemüller) has an umlauted u.
582-587 Munder (Münder) has an umlauted u.
589 Koritz (Köritz) has an umlauted o.
590 Place of origin looks like Aitch.
