I, C.Meyer, Master of the Prussian Steamship Bremen do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said Steamship at Bremen from which port said Steamship has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died.
Sworn to this 3 June 1864 So help me God. C. Meyer
Before me (port authority signature illegible)

Transcriber's Notes:
* An asterisk indicates an error on the part of the original recorder, not the transcriber,
or is used to call attention to additional information in the passenger notes.
? Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined due to the condition of the
manifest or handwriting of the original recorder.
^ Indicates letters are omitted and the following letter is superscripted.
* In addition to faded ink on this list the handwriting is very difficult to decipher, and
the writer uses abbreviations like merchd (merchant), or for names like Kath (Katherine)
without a period to indicate an abbreviation. He also seems to have little knowledge of
Germanic town names; hence, the places of origin are often indecipherable.
* Because there are a number of English and French passengers on this list the ship must
have stopped in Liverpool and/or Le Havre though there is nothing in the list indicating
that.
* The list has been renumbered for the website.
1 Given name almost obliterated because of fading ink; seems to be Carl
7 Name probably A. von Kollwitz.
12 Occupation may be student
15 Surname could be Freund.
18 Writer of the list has skipped numbering from 17 to 19--so no entry number 18.
22 Somethinbg is written in superscript before the D F. initials; it may be Dr.
63 Surname may be Slettner.
66 Surname unclear: seems to be Braunlapp or Braunkapp.
85 Because of faded original, the fourth letter of the surname is unclear. Name may
be something like Neuberger or Neuperger.
101-103 Origin seems to be something like Drecksdorf.
103 Ditto marks seem to indicate the given name is the same as the previous entry;
however the usual do is used here and elsewhere to indicate ditto.
112 Given name looks like it could be James.
142 Surname may be Stermening.
154 Surname probably von Ness or van Ness.
155 Gotte (Götte) has an umlauted o.
165 Surname may be Marcus.
168 Surname may be Marcus.
180-181 Druhl (Drühl) has an umlauted u.
183-187 Surname may be Kuresch.
196-197 Surname unclear; may be Lienemann or Heinemann.
239-241 Dorgeloh (Dörgeloh) has an umlauted o.
255 Surname may be von Lieth.
256-261 Surname may be Meinardi. No. 257: given name probably Gretke;
275 Ohlwarter (Ohlwärter) has an umlauted a.
277 Surname may be Fuhs.
303-309 Grietje is travelling as a widow with her children: Ella (should be Elke); Sara;
Johanna; Hajo; Harmanna; and Reinharda as well as with her married daughter's
family, (Trientje) the Klaas/Claas Peters on the list following her.
310-312 Surname is Peters: Klaas or Claas Peters along with wife Trientje (née Reints)
and daughter, Aaltjesine. The family was from Ihrhove, Ostfriesland, and went to
Forreston, Illinois, later settling in Wellsburg, Iowa.
315-316 Jacob Frerichs and M? Frerichs may have been from Rahe. The place of origin
(Rahde) seems wrong.
320-325 Muller (Müller has an umlauted u. The Müllers came from Simonswolde, Ostfriesland,
and their names can be found in the "Simonswoldmer Dorfchronik und
Familienstammbäume," entry no. 1211. There their names are recorded as: Jakob,
Elmde, Klaas, Weeke, Heike, Greetje Müller.
329 Is this the baby of the Peters entries no. 310 and 311?
334 Place of origin may be Rastede.
336 Schroder (Schröder) has an umlauted o.
338 Stunkel (Stünkel) has an umlauted u.
344 Ink faded--name seems to be something like Gass, Gais, or Geis.
