Transcriber's Notes:
* An asterisk indicates an error on the part of the original recorder, not the transcriber,
or is used to call your attention to additional information in the transcriber's notes.
? Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined due to the condition of the
manifest or handwriting of the original recorder.
^ A ^ followed by a letter indicates that the letter was superscripted.
* Names were transcribed as seen regardless of spelling.
* The captain's name appears on the ship introduction, but there is no signature in the
'sworn by' section.
* Misspelled words include Canada, written by hand over New York on the manuscript. In
type misspelled are which (wich) and stest (sets).
* Handwritten on the right margin are the words: Bark Agda arr'd 29 July 1872.
* The right, or last column, contains 'between decks' for all passengers. Therefore, that
column is omitted in the summary.
* The column for the country in which they intend to become inhabitants is often written as
West Canada, but the place, Renfrew, is listed over the 'died on the voyage' column.
Where this occurs, the referenced column lists both entries.
* Occupations are listed where they occur; the manifest contains ditto marks below the
occupation for all passengers, men, women, and children. For this reason, occupations
are listed only where they in fact are written out on the manuscript.
* The manuscript can be found in scanned form on the Internet. A comparison was made between
spellings of names as read by the transcriber, and of the names listed at that site. Some,
but not all, discrepencies are noted.
* The pages received by the transcriber were in a different order from the scanned pages.
The passengers are not numbered on the manuscript. An effort was made to determine which
order, that of the scanned pages, or that of the copies was correct. The best judgement
resulted in selecting the order found on the web site. Because of this, pages that begin
with the name of a child, but with no surname attached may be in error.
* Many children, especially those one year old and younger, died on the voyage.
* At least two families are noted on the manifest as having debarked at the quarantine site
Grosse Isle. The canadian immigration registry, from which several entries are copied here,
also contains listings of two births at sea that are not accounted for on the manuscript.**
* The page starting with passenger 306 is written on a page that is normally used as a first
page for a manuscript. However, the items usually completed on the first page are left
blank on this page. The page beginning with passenger 318 is assumed to be the last page,
as it contains the summary counts of the passengers.
* Totals are listed as 225 over 14 years, 73 children under 8 years, 38 babies, 336 in all.
Makes by Rule 261 Fullgrown persons.
** Other deaths listed at the Register of deaths were comparable to those on the manifest.
Howerver, the following deaths could not be reconciled to the names on the manifest:

6 The given name is likely Barbara, but looks like Barbare on the manifest.
8-14 The surname could be Kasubick, but looks like Kasubiek on the manifest.
10,11 twins August and Alosius are listed on the same line on the manifest.
19-24 This family debarked to the Canadian quarantine station, Grosse Isle. The name could
be Kasubiek, but looks like Kasubick on the manifest.
29-35 The surname could be Walk, but looks like Wolk on the manifest.
35 This child was listed as Gustina Konopacke, 9 years old, on a list found on the
Internet. But she is 9 months old on the mainifest, and, according to the order of
sheets explained above, would belong to the Wolk/Walk family.
52 is likely the birth listed above as Ergenia
57 This child is the first entry on a new manifest page, and could therefore belong to a
different family.
83 Occupation 'carage builder' is spelled this way on the manifest, but is perhaps a
misspelling of carriage builder
90-92 The surname could also be Brzezinsk.
102 This child was listed as Andreas May, 3 years old, on a list found on the Internet.
But he is 3 months old and according to the order of sheets explained above, belongs
to the Lubinsky family.
127 The surname could also be Jardzeweka
171 The child is the first entry on the manifest page - it is not certain to which family
she belongs.
