Correspondence added 4 October 2010 re: SHAR (Shore) family
Passengers 1-9 are my ancestors who emigrated from Nymet Tracey, (now Bow) Devon, England.
I have christening records for all these individuals that show the family name as "Shore."
Therefore I believe this is correct and "Shar" was an error on the part of the original
scribe.
Although his given name was not listed on the manifest, passenger #1 was William Shore
and he was my 4th great-grandfather while passenger #9, George Shore, was my 3rd great-grandfather.
For several years the Shores lived in Pittsburg, PA and later some family members migrated
to points down the Ohio River including Ironton, OH, Huntington, WV and Ashland, KY.
I have been able to trace most of this family for several generations. Thanks again. Jack Shore

Correspondence added 20 May 2012 SHAR family
I would like to add a little bit more to what Jack Shore has added.
The Shar's/Shore's arrived on the Ship Suffolk from Bristol,
England on 15 Jul 1831 at the District/Port of Philadelphia.
They then moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Eventually
Eliza Shore married into my family. She married James Lowry and
had at least 11 children, although we can only account for 10
(1870 US Fed Census). They were Emma, Eliza, James, Mary, William,
Eva, Albert, Kate, Harvey (my gf) and Fanny (Minnie). James
Lowry became Mayor (1864-1866) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
and was at one time, Sheriff and then Coroner of Pittsburgh.
Harvey (my ggf) was, for many years, the Councilman from the
7th Ward and then the 11th Ward. I have been in contact with
Jack Shore who is, by the way, a great researcher, a cousin
descended from Eva's line, a cousin descended from Albert's line
and a cousin descended from Minnie's line.
