Transcriber's Notes:
* An asterisk indicates an error on the part of the original recorder, not the
transcriber, or is used to call your attention to additional information in the
transcriber's notes.
? Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined due to the condition
of the manifest or handwriting of the original recorder.
Since only two passengers were American citizens, that column is blank, except for those
two entries.
18 The entry was on a page fold; the 'hailing place' is not readable.
27 The manifest has quotation marks indicating a male for Margaretha, but her status and
cmpartment indicate she's female
31 The hailing place Duneburg has an umlaut over the u = Düneburg
32 The surname has an umlaut over the o = Köhler (Koehler)
45 The hailing place could also be Rostock (but it's written Rostok)
48 The destination place looks like Chadon; and the hailing place name trails off - is not
completely readable
54 The hailing place has an umlaut over the o - Königsberg
57, 58, 59, 60 - the hailing place has an umlaut over the u, and is also likely misspelled
(n should be m) Würtemberg.
63, 64, 65, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71 - the hailing place Schonsee has an umlaut over the o - Schönsee
78 The surname is faded, but looks like the entry above.
81 The hailing place Schonfeld has an umlaut over the o - Schönfeld
82 The surname has an umlaut over the o - Köhn, (Koehn)
97 The given name Bedrish can possibly be translated to Fredrich or Fred
120 The given name is likely Wilhelmina; the surname has an umlaut over the a - Oehlschläger,
or Oehlschlaeger.
125, 126 The hailing place has an umlaut over the u - Nürschau
138 The sex is listed as male (with quotation marks), but Ingeborg is a female name
142, 143, 144,145,145 - The hailing place has no umlaut over the o, but it's not likely to have
such a place without one.
