Transcriber's Notes:

* An asterisk indicates an error on the part of the original recorder, not
the transcriber, or is used to call your attention to additional information
   in the transcriber's notes.

? Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined due to the
condition of the manifest or handwriting of the original recorder.

^ A ^ followed by a letter indicates that the letter was superscripted.

* Passenger numbers assigned by transcriber for ease of reference.

* Not shown is column for country of origin as manifest showed that they were from England
and Ireland with no way of telling which.

* All passengers intended to be residents of the U. States so this column was not shown.

* This transcriber believes that this is probably one of the U.S. ships and citizens that
traveled to Liberia to help establish that country so that freed black American slaves
might return to find a safe refuge. Therefore, the passengers on board the Hilarity, all
being U.S. citizens, were most likely returning to the U.S. after working to help
establish this country. For more information on Liberia click here.
