I, R. W. Grace, Master of the S.S. "England", do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect List of all the Passengers taken on board the said S.S. "England" at Liverpool via Queenstown from which Ports the said S.S. "England" has now arrived; and that on said List is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said Passengers who have died on said Voyage and the names and ages of those who died.

A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that can not be transcribed
definitely.
An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of the
manifest or something in the Transcriber's Notes to which the reader should refer.
A caret (^) indicates that the following letter in a word or name is superscripted
The recorder of the manifest often abbreviates given names by writing only the first
few letters of the name, followed sometimes by a period but many times without it.
For some names, the recorder abbreviates them by writing the first few letters of
the name then skips letters and writes the final letter, i.e., Michl for Michael,
Margt for Margaret, Thos for Thomas, Wm for William, Jas for James, etc.
The Occupation of every passenger in steerage class whether male, female, child or
infant is listed as "Labourer". The transcriber believes this was done solely
for the recorder's convenience and likely has little or no correlation to the
passengers' actual Occupations. The transcriber lists only the adult male
passengers as "Labourers".
13-14 Surname is either "Meuzes" or "Menzes".
20-21 Surname is recorded as "Hamond", but might possibly be "Hammond".
59-88 These passengers are all listed as being natives of Italy, but most
of the names appear to be English names. It is possible that the recorder
mistakenly entered ditto marks indicating "Italy" when he/she should have
entered "England".
76 Surname is either "Moon" or "Moore".
79 Surname is either "Carter" or "Carton".
81 Surname is recorded as "Cumins", but might possibly be "Cummins".
84 Surname is possibly "Austale" or "Austall".
