I, J. D. Luth do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest of Passengers, subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs for the District of New York, contains to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Brem. Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined due to the condition of the manifest or handwriting of the original recorder. ^ Indicates letters are omitted and the following letter is superscripted. There seems to be a page of names missing on this list because the first page containing the sworn statemen constains only that paragraph. And then, at the end of the list the number 127 is written twice indicating that there were 127 passengers. The first passengers on this list must have been in steerage whereas the last seven are listed as Cajuts Passengers, i.e. cabin passengers. 1-6 Place of origin unclear--looks like it may be Bavaria 7-12 Surname is spelled as indicated for passengers. So it appears as Reichenecker or Reichenicker 16-18 Is Ville Wockey Milwauki? 24 Surname may be Segel or Tegel. 26 Surname blurred four letters--looks like it may be something like Sieg. 27 Surname blurred--may be Scheller. 28 Trager (Träger) has an umlauted a so may also be Traeger. 32 Surname unclear; may be Stupfel (Stüpfel) or Stuepfel, or Hupfel (Hüpfel), Huepfel. 36 Surname seems to be Wunderlich or Wanderlich. 37-38 Loblein (Löblein) has an umlauted o so may also be Loeblein. 39 Surname may be Meisner. 41 Surname may be Viets. 52 Rohrmann (Röhrmann) has an umlauted o so may also be Roehrmann. 54 Schutz (Schütz) has an umlauted u so may also be Schuetz. 59 Surname looks like it may be Wachswald. 74 Surname looks something like Stochen. 86 Surname looks something like Kohler. 90-91 Grobel (Gröbel) has an umlauted o so may also be Groebel. 92 Dorich (Dörich) has an umlauted o so may also be Doerich. 95 Schodd (Schödd) has an umlauted o so may also be Schoedd. 101 Passenger probably the wife of passenger 100. 103 Muller (Müller) has an umlauted u so may also be Mueller. 104 Surname may be Timker. 111 Baumgartner (Baumgärtner) has an umlauted a so may also be Baumgaertner. 112 Name is lost because the original photocopy is cut off. 113 Apparently the child of passengers 80 and 81. Note in the destination column: died on the voyage. 116 Schutte (Schütte) has an umlauted u so may also be Schuette. 119 Surname is blotted and then written above; looks something like Tiengken or Toengken.
