SS Catalonia
I, Alexander McKay, Master of the S S Catalonia do solemnly, sincerely, and truly declare that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of Boston, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board the said ship at Liverpool and Queenstown from which port the said ship has now arrived; and that on said List are truly designated the age, sex and calling of each of said passengers, the location of the compartment or space occupied by each during the passage, the country of the citizenship of each, and also the destination or location intended by each; and that the said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of the said passengers who have died on the said voyage, and the dates and causes of death, and the names and ages of those who died; also of the pieces of baggage of each; also a true statement, so far as it can be ascertained, with reference to the intention of each alien passengers as to a protracted sojourn in this country. Transcriber's Notes:
There is a Manifest page of this sailing missing from the National Archives. Apparently in the
process of filming these pages, this one was missed. It is from passenger 133 to 179. In the
event that this page is made available from NARA, it will be added to this transcription.
This manifest has sustained some water damage, where the document was folded. Some of the
names can be read through the smear, but some simply cannot be read. It is through all pages
and is worse on some pages than others.
The column, "Date and Cause of Death" was elminated from this transcription as there were no
deaths on this passage.
The "Location of compartment or space occupied" column was abbreviated by the transcriber.

The transcriber has used the abbreviation PS for Protracted Sojourn. Most passengers intended to
remain in the United States. IT was used for those who were In Transit.
The original lister numbered the passengers and provided a recapitulation at the end of the
manifest.
This manifest sustained serious water damage, especially at the center of the individual pages,
through the entire document. Some of the entries simply are not able to be read.
A question mark (?) is used for letter/letters that cannot be read because of the quality of the
document. Where possible a suggestion is given in the Transcriber's Notes of what this letter/
letters may be.
An asterisk (*) is used to refer to an item in the transcriber's notes, which further explains the
entry.

62 Possibilities: Lundahl, Lindahl. None of the letters goes below the line.
68 It is not known why the lister wrote "Anderson" after the country of citizenship.
It is probably an error.
96 This passenger is listed as a male, but has a distinctly feminine name.
119 Initial is either an "I" or "J".
192 Murma, Mursna, Murena.
204 Surname could be Braikfield.
