I am commanded by His Royal Highness to transmit to you the inclosed List of the Rebel Prisoners who have been ordered to be Transported to Jamaica, and am to signify to you H: R: H:’s Pleasure, that you do with all convenient Speed return exact Lists of those Rebel Prisoners that have landed in that Island, that the same may be laid before His Royal Highness. I am &ca. P: Methuen Leverpool April 26 1716.

All were Jacobite Rebels taken prisoner at the 1715 Uprising in Preston. The first document names 47 Rebels as shipped aboard the ship “Two Brothers”. The second document set lists 1,301 Rebels in various prisons in or near Preston. Among the 1,301 are the men named in the above table, selected on account of the name similarities. The “Two Brothers” was one of ten ships used to transport 639 of the 1,301 Rebels to the Americas. The names of the Rebels transported can be found among the names of the Rebels listed in the four prisons.
