All were Jacobite Rebels taken prisoner at the 1715 Uprising in Preston. The first document names 30 Rebels as shipped aboard the ship “Hockenhill”. The second document set lists 1,301 Rebels in various prisons in or near Preston. Among the 1,301 are the men named in the above table, selected on account of the name similarities and adding further details from the prison lists.. The “Hockenhill” was one of ten ships used to transport 639 of the 1,301 Rebels to the Americas. The names of the Rebels transported can be found among the names of the Rebels listed in the four prisons.
