Steamer CANADA, Lang, Boston 40 hours-85 passengers, 23 for Halifax; was detained by strong head wind. Saturday,2nd-R.M. Steamer NIAGARA, Miller, Liverpool 12 1/2 days; 96 passengers, 6 for Halifax The R.M. Steamer CANADA from Boston did not arrive at this port until 2 o'clock p.m. yesterday, having been driven off the coast by the gale of the previous night. She brought 85 passengers, 23 of whom were for Halifax, $770,000 in specie for Liverpool and $20,000 for Halifax. ACADIAN RECORDER, Halifax Jan.16, 1858 A detachment of 142 men, for the 63rd Regt., now in this garrison, was sent out from the depot of the regiment, by the AMERICAN. The men landed, immediately upon the arrival of that steamer, this morning, and marched up to barracks, preceeded by their regimental band. EVENING RECORDER, Halifax Feb. 06, 1858, plate 3,c1 Barque Breadalbane Bras D’or,C.B. – New Zealand Sydney, C.B., Jan.30 – A correspondent, writing from Baddeck, under date of the 9th inst., whose communication only reached us on Saturday evening last, thus refers to matters in the Shire-town of Victoria:- "The barque Breadalbane, owned by the Hon. C. J. Campbell, of this place, sailed from the Great Bras D’or on Sunday, the 27th ultimo, with 124 steerage passengers, and one cabin passenger – a Mr. Munro, of Truro, N.S., for New Zealand."
