SS Scythia
I, Hains Master of the SS Scythia do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect List of all the Passengers taken on board of the said sship* at Lpool* from which Port said sship* has now arrived; and that on the said List is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of the said Passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said Passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who have died. Correspondence 5/04/01 passengers Bock
Per (or Peter) Magnus Bock and his wife, Maria Sophia (Peterson) Bock
arrived in NY aboard the SS Scythia on March 26, 1879. They settled
in Worcester, MA where Peter was first a laborer in the Washburn & Moen,
South Works, wire manufacturing company and later became a stationary
fireman. He and Sophia had at least nine children, only one of whom
lived to adulthood, the others died quite young. Peter was very active
in the Quinsigamond Methodist Church. Peter died 20 December, 1928;
I'm not sure when Maria Sophia died. Barbara Wilson
