Liverpool Packet


From Liverpool, England to Baltimore, August 29, 1820

DISTRICT OF BALTIMORE – PORT BALTIMORE
I, Elijah Ricker, do solemnly, justly and truly swear that the Report or Manifest subscribed with my hand and now delivered by me to the Collector of the District of Baltimore contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief a just and true account of all the Goods, Wares and Merchandise, including packages of every kind and witnessed which were on board the said ship Liverpool Packet at the time of her sailing from the Port of Liverpool or which have been laden or taken on board at any time since, and that the packages of the said goods are as particulatly described as in the Bill of lading signed for by me or with my knowledge; that I am at present and have been during the voyage, Master of the said vessel, that no package whatsoever, or any Goods, Wares or Merchandise have been unladen, landed, taken out or in any manner whatever removed from on board the said ship since her departure from the said port of Liverpool except such as are now particularly specified and declared in the account herewith; and that the clearance and other papers, now delivered by me to the Collector, are all that I now have or have had any way relate to the cargo of the vessel. And I do further swear that the several articles specified in the said manifest, as the Sea Stores for the Cabin and Vessel are truly such, and were Bona Fide put on board the said ship for the use of the Officers, Passengers and Crew thereof, and have none of them been brought and are not intended by way of merchandise or for sale or any other purpose than above mentioned, and are intended to remain on board for the consumption of the said Captain and Crew. I further swear that if I shall herewith discover or know of any other or greater quantity of Goods, Wares and Merchandise of any nature or kind whatsoever than are contained in the Report and manifest subscribed and now delivered by me, I will immediately and without delay, make due report thereof to the Collector of the Port or District of Baltimore and I do likewise swear that all matters whatsoever in the said Report or Manifest expressed are to the best of my knowledge and belief just and true.
I do further solemnly swear that the Register of the said ship herewith presented contains the names of all the persons who are now owners thereof and that no foriegn subject or citizen hath, to the best of my knowledge and belief, any share by the way of trust, confidence or otherwise in the said ship. and I further swear that I have delivered to the Postmaster of this place, all the letters directed to any persons within the United States, which are under my care, or within my power, were brought in the within named vessel,which I command, except such as are directed to her owner or consignee; and except also such as are directed to be delivered to the Port of Delivery to which this vessel is bound.

Transcriber's Notes for Passengers: 1. A ? indicates an illegible letter or number 2. One statement says there are 37 passengers on board. But only 11 passengers are named. It could be that they did not list the wives names or any children's names. Just listed as " & Family ". 3. The year numerals in the date Sepr 18?? were written in and then scratched out.
I, Charles Robinson, Certify that the within Manifest was this day ?????? ??????, as the Original manifest of the cargo on board the Liverpool Packet, whereof *Elijah Ricker Master from Liverpool. In Witness whereof I hereunto signed my name this 2nd day of Sept 1820

Transcriber's Notes for Cargo:

1. Port of destination is all Blank
2. Consignee Residence is all Baltimore
3. There is no indication what WRRM, SA, E, P or G stands for in the Marks 
   column.
4. In the Cargo Manifest - the (S) symbol was actually an 'S' with a box 
   drawn around it.
5. * The item "8 Casks of Glue" has a triangle in the Marks column with an 
   illegible letter inside it.
6. * Elijah was abreviated Eli with a small h above the line.
