Kate
The "Kate" arrived in Sydney in 1849, with 338 assisted immigrants. My ancestor Abraham Carr was on board, one of the many young men & women who were being assisted to reach Australia by the government of the time. I have a copy of one page of the original immigration list, which provides more detail than the passenger list does, so for about 30 names you will note more detail than most. My name is Dot Wood and my Great Great Grandfather John Mitchell aged 45
his wife Georgina Mary Anne (Rowell) aged 34 first born George Henry
aged 5 (born 1843-1900) and Elizabeth aged 1 (born 1847-1929) were on
the Kate in 1849 and came to N.S.W. and were pioneers in the Gloucester
Barrington Tops, Dungog regions they went on to have Mary Anne born 1850,
William born 1855, James 1861-1946,Henry 1870, and another female
(no information).
I do not have much history on them before coming to Australia but if
anyone can help I would love it, believed to be from Yexley Huntingdon
England married 1836. Thanks. Dot Wood
