Transcriber's Notes:
* An asterisk indicates an error on the part of the original recorder, not
the transcriber, or is used to call your attention to additional information
in the transcriber's notes.
? Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined due to the
condition of the manifest or handwriting of the original recorder.
The recorder's hand writing was generally careless, except when he wrote
"United States of America".
What appears to be a "u" is most often an "a", sometimes an "o", "n" or part
of an "m". The recorder used "do" (ditto) wherever appropriate
(under last names, occupations, countries). The "do"s have been replaced
with the intended entries. The passengers' names on the manifest were in
normal (first, MI, last) order. They are rearranged here, with last names
first, for ease of reference. The manifest has two columns for age
(years and months). They are combined into one column here. The figures
"2" and "3" were often difficult to differentiate. Likewise, the digit 5
might sometimes be construed as a 2 or 3.
All spelling is as recorded.
Psgr 41, 54, 55, 62, 72, 74-76, 79, 84, 85, 87, 93-95, 97, 106-110, 112, 113, 121, 129, 130, 143:
The Occupation column consists of two undecipherable words, the first beginning with H(u/a?)(p/f?)
and having probably six letters, the second having 7 or 8 letters with a "v" in the middle
(it is not Servant). They appear frequently for females aged 15-27 and probably are a term for
household help.
In columns where nothing is recorded, nothing was recorded on the original manifest.
15 Robert Dodds: Occupation could be Barkeeper.
17, 148 There were two Donald McIntyres on board, one in steerage and one in 2nd cabin.
56 James CALAGHAN: "Died of heart disease 16/4/78" was entered in column headed
"Died on the Voyage."
115 Age was obliterated, unreadable.
