This ship left Honolulu on May 24, 1893. No name is filled in where the captain's name should be entered in the sworn statement. There is no signature on the Immigration Inspector's statement. The left edge of the list is obscured by something like a piece of paper in places. Letters that could not be interpreted or are obscured are replaced by?. There are some words that are abbreviated with the final one or two letters written above the line. These include Margt (#2), Ca?he(#22), San Franco, Haw Ids. The Remarks column has no explanation on this list. However, other lists on this film have the words Money and Read & Write hand-written above the columns of numbers and yes/no. The number of pieces of baggage entries on the manifest signify by brackets that the number entered includes the entire group. The number given has been assigned here to the first group member listed. All others in the group have * entered in this column. Passenger numbers have been added to aid with referencing. 18 Mrs Kerr has $10. The number is written with the final two zeros elevated and a line drawn below them, as one would write cents. 22 Ca?he The missing letter in Ca?he Kerr is either an "r" or "s." 41 ? Vanconil is probably Mrs. Vanconil/Vancovil The name for this family is clearly written with an "n" on the first page where they appear and clearly written with a "v" on the next page. 50 K?? Kamaze Since the writer's capital and lower case "K" are indistinguishable this combination of letters could be just a surname rather than an initial followed by a surname. 58 Mrs Yamachita's sex is recorded as M. 61-63 Sutherland, J. Firiera and Mrs. Firiera have both an "F" and an "M" recorded in the Sex column. The one that seems the bolder is recorded here. 73 Drummond has 150.00 recorded in the Remarks column. The final two zeros are written above the line with a line drawn under them, as one would write cents. 81 Ga?er The missing letter is "u" or "n." 94 No other information provided for this passenger. 95-96 The Machada passengers were written a few lines below the preceeding passengers in a different hand. Following the Machadas, the Captain has signed the manifest. The succeeding names appear to be written in the same hand as the Machadas. 98 Surname could be Matenkawa or Mateukawa. 100 Yet? missing letter is "a" or "o." 109 ?e??ta initial letter is probably "O" or "D." 115 Ho?ta missing letter is "i" or "n."
