SS Anchoria
I, William Brown Master of the SS Anchoria do solemnly, sincerely and truly declare that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of the City of New York is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board the said vessel at Glasgow & Moville from which ports said vessel has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the calling of each of said passengers, the location of the compartment or space occupied by each during the passage, the country or citizenship of each, and also the destination or location intended by each; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the dates and causes of death, and the names and ages of those who died; also of the pieces of baggage of each; also a true statement, so far as it can be ascertained, with reference to the intention of each alien passenger as [to] a protracted sojourn in this country. Two columns have been eliminated. First is the Intended destination or location which is USA for all but a few passengers who will be identified in transcriber's notes following passenger list. The second column is the one labeled Transient, or in transit, or intending protracted sojourn. Except as noted in the transcriber's notes, the column was left blank for most of the passengers.

The following note was received from Nita Lang:
Hi, A few months ago browsing around your transcription of the SS Anchoria
for July 18, 1887 and found my great grandfather, Andrew Allan and his
brother-in-law Jno Samson (passenger #95) and apparently a friend of theirs.
The following is information regarding the Allan family:
Andrew immigrated from Motherwell, Scotland to Kansas for a better job as
a mine superintendent but that was not to be as he worked as an ordinary
miner. He died of consumption. The oldest son Andrew immigrated in 1888.
Isabella, his wife immigrated in 1889 with three children - Agnes, Belle
and Peter. I believe, the 1889 is accurate as my grandmother b.1884 told
me she was 5 and particularly remembered eating a soup that was so good.
She commented "even then I was thinking of my stomach". The 1900 census
shows them living in Osage, Kansas. They had seven sons, my father the
oldest. They were all born in Kansas.
Andrew Allan b. 6/5/1854 in Newbattle, Scotland (son of John Allen
b. 4/8/1821 m. 12/08/1848 to Agnes Laidlaw b. about 1822) m. 7/28/1882,
in Scotland to Isabella Samson b. 4/19/1863 in Dalry Scotland.
They had twelve children 1.Andrew Allan-11/28/1882
2.Agnes Craig Allan-3/28/1884 3.Belle Allan-1/1886 4.Peter Allan-9/1887
5.Henry Allan-4/1889 6.Margaret Allan-1/5/1891 7.John Allan-3/1892

family in general, and usually listed with the last person in the group. I
have not indicated by group who the baggage belonged to other than in this

in a different handwriting.
