Correspondence August 7, 2002 passenger Egarnae
It is the belief of some of Jean deJarnat's descendants that the gentleman listed
on the ship as Jean Egarnae was indeed our Jean deJarnat
We have linked another gentleman Gabriel Maupain to another document
outlining the "naturalization" of the Maupain gentleman and listed in the
naturalization info it lists our "Jean deJarnat" and it appears that pronunciation
and/or listing of the gentleman "Egarnae" would most likely have been our
"deJarnat". George Whalen (descendant of Jean deJarnat) in Evansville,
Indiana
Also: The book "Tidewater Virginia Families" refers to the naturalization
and the book "Huguenot Emmigrations to Virginia" lists the passenger list.

Correspondence June 14, 2005 passengers Gueran
This ship carried one of my ancestors to Virginia: Daniel Gueran (Guerrant)
They settled in King William parish in Virginia. (Manakin)
According to : The Huguenot, a publication of the Huguenot Society of Manakin, VA
and the Douglas Register, Page 66 The following is found:

In 1700 Daniel (Guerin)Guerrant, Huguenot refugee, with his wife Marie and four children
arrived in York River, Virginia on the ship Nassau and settled at Manakintown.
His wife: Marie L'Orange. Son: Peter, Daughters: Jean and Jane. Son: Daniel II
Mary Jane Stuart

Correspondence added March 11, 2007, passenger DUVAL
My ancestor, Daniel DuVal, was a passenger on the ship Nassau which sailed from
Blackwall in London on 8 December 1700(01) and arrived in Gloucester County, VA on
5 March 1701(02). Descendants of Daniel DuVal include Samuel DuVal who represented
Henrico County, VA and was present at St. John's Church in Richmond when Patrick
Henry gave his famous speech, "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death." During the
Revolutionary War Samuel DuVal and his four sons bore prominent positions. One
of these sons, Colonel Daniel DuVal, was with Lafayette and witnessed the final
triumph at Yorktown. Daniel DuVal's descendant, William Pope DuVal, was appointed
Governor of the Florida Territory in 1882. (Information taken from "DuVals of Kentucky
from Virginia" written by Margaret Buchanan and published in 1938.) More information can be
found at the Duval Family Association which was first organized in 1936, reorganized in 1998
and has members throughout the United States.

Correspondence added August 1, 2007 passengers 62-66 Maupin
My ancestors that came over on the Nasseau in 1701 was Gabriel Maupin, his
wife Mary (Spencer,) and 3 children.  I only know the names of 2 children;
Gabriel and Daniel-(my family line.) They migrated to Ky. and Tn.

Daniel Maupin married Margaret Via about 1726 or 1730. Their son William
Maupin married Mildred White of Virginia and they moved to Ky. Their son
Amos Maupin born Feb 14 1775 and died Sept 19 1865. He married Sallie Ayres
about 1809. She was born May 25 1790 and died July 4, 1852. Cynthia Maupin
their daughter was born Jan 11,1816 and married Rev. William Patton Bruce.
