It is with deep sadness that we mourn the loss of Olivia (Libby) Bessire. Libby joined the ISTG family many years ago and has been dedicated to the work of ISTG in uploading many thousands of passenger lists. We ask for your prayers for her husband, David; her two children, Laure and Mike; her four grandchildren, and all those who love her. Libby leaves a big void in the hearts of us all, and while we cannot fill that void, we hope prayers will ease the grief over time. Rest in the arms of the Lord, our dear friend. We will hold your wonderful memory in our hearts.

We are all seeking to complete our family tree. In keeping with the belief that we all are entitled to know our heritage and those who came before us, I have created The Adoption Story Board. While it is in its infancy, I know that it will grow, just as the passenger lists grew, starting with a few lists added over ten years ago. It begins by taking the first step. From personal experience, I know that genealogists and family historians are some of the best sleuths in the world. Please take a look and see if you may be able to help someone complete their family tree. The Adoption Story Board puts a human face and words from the heart on a situation and an injustice that has existed far too long.

In this age of technology, it's important to preserve some of the past so that it is long remembered. The facts about where your ancestors came from as well as the stories that detail their everyday lives are a gift no one else but you can pass on. Don't let it go unrecorded. Start today with what you know even if you don't have a lot of information. It's a beginning and it's free. Once you put in some information, Ancestry Hints automatically starts searching for records to help you. Those records might include census data, military records and immigration records. Ask other family members to fill in the gaps, add photos and stories, events that made you laugh or cry - and you will create a keepsake for all time.
I want to thank all the ISTG Volunteers for their exceptional work as we move into Volume 1 76 - having finished 17,000+ passenger lists which are now online for you.
We are still taking on new volunteers, so if you're interested in joining the Guild, you can find our Guild Application here. If you have sent in an application to which you received no response, you haven't been rejected. This may be a slow process but if you've waited more than a couple of weeks, please contact me by email.
If you find an ancestor on a ship on ISTG and would like to
link to your email address or home page, please submit a short
paragraph about the passenger, where settled, children, etc.,
with the name of the ship and date of arrival, and send to
the transcriber at the bottom of the manifest or to the
ISTG Production Coordinator. Be sure to include the name of the ship.
